Social Media Schedulers That Work With Claude and ChatGPT

At least a dozen social media schedulers now have an official MCP server, so Claude or ChatGPT can schedule posts for you. Most stop there. Kadenzo is the one we found that also brings brand listening and comment-to-DM results into the same chat, from $29 a month. Buffer and Metricool are free for light posting, Upload-Post suits developers, and PostFast holds every post until you approve it. Later, despite what some AI answers say, has no MCP server.

We make Kadenzo. On November 4, 2026 we connected Buffer, Metricool, Upload-Post and Kadenzo to Claude and gave each the same two jobs. The other eight are checked against their own docs and pricing pages on the same day.

The short answer

If the chat should run more than your posting

Kadenzo

Schedules to 11 networks and reads your brand mentions, best times and comment-to-DM results in the same chat, from $29 a month.

If a few free posts from Claude are enough

Buffer or Metricool

Free, but small: Buffer stops at 3 channels with 10 queued posts each, Metricool at 1 brand and 20 posts a month. Neither can read mentions or DMs.

If you build automations around it

Upload-Post

About 50 developer-style tools, including video jobs. The free tier stops at 10 uploads a month and can’t post to TikTok.

If nothing should go out unseen

PostFast

Posts created from Claude wait on hold until you approve them. No free plan.

Before you ask an AI

What AI answers get wrong about scheduler MCP servers

We asked GPT-5.5 with web search which schedulers work with Claude and ChatGPT through MCP. Some of the names it gave don’t hold up, and some tools it left out now have official servers.

Often said: “Later has an MCP server”

Later has no official MCP server. No Later help page, changelog or developer page mentions one. The “Later MCP” results are unofficial third-party wrappers.

Often said: “Perch is an MCP scheduler”

Perch is Hootsuite’s publishing module. Its server lives at Hootsuite and needs a Hootsuite plan.

Often said: “Sprout Social schedules from Claude or ChatGPT”

Sprout’s official connection is a ChatGPT app that reads TikTok data only, on Professional and up. There is no Claude connector and it can’t publish.

Often said: “Buffer has no official MCP”

It does: a hosted server at Buffer, listed in Claude’s directory since August 2026, free on the free plan.

Often said: “Postiz’s MCP is self-hosted only”

Postiz now runs a hosted server with OAuth sign-in and an official listing in both Claude and ChatGPT.

Often said: “Ayrshare only has a documentation MCP”

It also has an action server that publishes, reads analytics and handles comments and DMs, but only with an API key.

Our test, November 4, 2026

Two jobs, four connectors, one Claude account

Each scheduler was connected to the same claude.ai account from Claude’s directory, with tool permissions set to ask every time. Nothing was published: every write call was declined at Claude’s approval prompt.

Job 1: schedule one post for next Tuesday, 9:00 Prague time

The prompt asked each to list the channels, then schedule a short text post to LinkedIn, or to the first connected channel if there was no LinkedIn.

BufferMetricoolUpload-PostKadenzo

Time zone rightYesYesNo account to testYes

Every connector reached a write call quickly, and none waited for a check of its own first. In Claude the real brake is Claude’s permission prompt, so keep write tools on “Allow once” whichever scheduler you connect. Kadenzo has a dry-run tool for exactly this step, and Claude didn’t call it unasked.

Buffer

Declined

Buffer: create_post on X after asking which channel to use.

Metricool

Declined

Metricool: straight to a scheduled Facebook post with auto-publish on.

Kadenzo

Declined

Kadenzo: scheduled to LinkedIn for 08:00 UTC, which is 9:00 in Prague.

Job 2: what did people say about us this week, and which DM rules are running?

Read-only. This is where the servers split: most were built to post, and few can read anything back.

BufferMetricoolUpload-PostKadenzo
What people said about the brand this weekNo listening toolsComment counts, not what people wroteComments one post at a time, no searchMentions by day, and it spotted a lookalike brand name inflating the count
Which comment-to-DM rules are runningNo DM toolsNo DM toolsLists AutoDM monitors (none set up yet)Running and paused rules with reach, opt-ins and clicks; flagged two rules on the same keyword

Upload-Post’s account was new, so it had no rules to list, but the tool is there. Hootsuite can answer the first question through its Lumen server on Enterprise. Of the servers we checked, Kadenzo is the only one that brings listening into the chat below that tier: it comes with the $29 plan. See how it works on the API and MCP page. If listening or DM rules matter more to you than the chat, our Brand24 alternatives and Instagram DM automation tools pages compare the tools built for each.

The twelve

Each server, in short

What it’s good at and what to check before you connect it. To weigh the schedulers on price and features alone, see our best social media scheduler roundup.

Kadenzo

$29/mo · Professional, 15 accounts ($24.17 yearly)

Tested

Kadenzo’s server is listed in Claude’s directory and was approved for ChatGPT’s plugin directory in October 2026. Sign in once and the assistant can schedule to 11 networks, read analytics and best times, and also read your brand mentions, track listening keywords and check how each comment-to-DM rule is converting. In our test it was the only one of the four that could answer what people said about the brand that week.

Watch for: The server comes with Professional ($29 a month) and up, so there’s no free way in. Share of voice is Enterprise ($49). In the directory version the assistant reads DM rules and their numbers; creating or editing rules needs an API key or the app.

Buffer

$0/mo · Free plan, 3 channels; paid $6 per channel ($5 yearly)

Tested

Buffer’s server sits in Claude’s directory and connects in two clicks. Fifteen tools cover posts, ideas, templates and post metrics, plus two general-purpose tools that reach the rest of its API. In our test Claude listed the channels, noticed there was no LinkedIn, asked which channel to use and went straight to create_post.

Watch for: No comment, inbox or DM tools. In ChatGPT it isn’t in the directory, so you add it in Developer mode.

Metricool

$0/mo · Free plan; Starter from $25 ($20 yearly)

Tested

One of the few verified listings in Claude’s directory. Its seven tools schedule and update posts, read analytics and suggest best times from your own history. In our test it read the brand settings and went straight to scheduling on Facebook, the first channel it found, without listing the channels first.

Watch for: The sign-in screen asks for inbox, ads, review and Drive access, more than its seven tools use. Through the connector it can count comments but not show what people wrote.

Upload-Post

$0/mo · Free, 10 uploads a month; Basic $24 ($16 yearly)

Tested

The biggest tool set we found, around 50 tools that map one to one onto its API: uploads, scheduling, analytics, comments, DMs, AutoDM monitors and even FFmpeg video jobs. It asks you to link accounts in its own dashboard before Claude can post anything.

Watch for: The sign-in lets Claude send DMs and reply to comments for you, so keep tool permissions on manual. The free plan can’t publish to TikTok.

PostEverywhere

$9/mo · Lite, 2 accounts; full MCP on every plan

A $9 plan gets the same hosted server as the top tier: 45 tools, including approval steps and image generation. The Claude and ChatGPT directory versions carry fewer tools than the full server.

Watch for: The ChatGPT build leaves out 11 tools. The trial needs a card.

Postiz

$29/mo · Cloud plans; free if you host it yourself

The open-source option, with a hosted OAuth server as well as a self-hosted one. Thirteen tools, including image and video generation and clipping on the custom link. Many roundups still call it self-hosted only, which is out of date.

Watch for: The directory version covers posting, scheduling and analytics; the media tools need the custom link.

PostFast

€15/mo · €12.50 yearly; no free plan, 7-day trial

Since its v0.7.0 release, posts created from Claude go on hold and publish only after you approve them, and comment replies show a preview first. The inbox covers TikTok, Instagram, Facebook Pages and Threads.

Watch for: Priced in euros. The ChatGPT directory version doesn’t include the inbox tools yet.

OneUp

$25/mo · Basic, 5 accounts ($15 yearly)

Approved in ChatGPT’s plugin directory; in Claude you add it as a custom connector. It schedules text, image and video posts, lists failed posts and replies to comments on every plan.

Watch for: Setup asks you to paste your OneUp API key in a browser window.

SocialPilot

$30/mo · Essentials, 7 accounts ($25.50 yearly)

The MCP server is ticked on all four plans, including the $30 one. It schedules, publishes, saves drafts for approval and surfaces failed posts.

Watch for: Its separate REST API is Enterprise only; the MCP is not.

Hootsuite

$149/mo · Standard, per user ($99 yearly)

Four separate servers: Perch for publishing, Nest for the inbox, Lumen for listening and Parliament for employee advocacy. Claude follows the same permissions and approval workflows as the app. AI answers sometimes list “Perch” as its own tool; it is Hootsuite’s publishing server.

Watch for: Billed per user. The listening server is Enterprise only, and each module is its own connector.

Typefully

Not stated · Free plan has 10 posts a month

Built for text: drafts and threads for X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, with a queue, tags and team comments on drafts. It appears in Claude’s directory with a verified badge.

Watch for: Typefully doesn’t say which plan includes the MCP. No Instagram, TikTok or YouTube.

Ayrshare

$149/mo · Premium, 1 profile

An API company with an action server of about 33 tools for publishing, history, analytics, comments and DMs. It works from Claude Code and other clients that can send a fixed API key.

Watch for: The server only accepts a static API key, so a claude.ai connector lists the tools but every call fails. Older roundups still say it only has a documentation server.

Also have an official server (not tested, vendor claims)

  • Publer: Business and Enterprise plans only, OAuth or a scoped API key.
  • Planable: Every plan, creates drafts only and keeps your approval steps.
  • Agorapulse: Drafts only, in beta.
  • Tailwind: Pinterest-focused, with a ChatGPT app.
  • Planoly: Listed in Claude’s directory.

Before you connect

Six setup details that decide which one works for you

Roundups rarely mention these, and each one decides whether the connection works for you.

1

Directory listing or custom connector

A directory listing installs with one sign-in. A custom connector needs the server address, and in ChatGPT that means Developer mode, which not every plan or workspace allows. Check which one a tool has before you pick it.

2

The directory version can be smaller

PostEverywhere’s full server has 45 tools, its Claude listing 44 and its ChatGPT listing 34. PostFast’s ChatGPT build has no inbox, and Postiz’s media tools need its custom link.

3

Some servers put your API key in the URL

Some servers, including SocialPilot on its alternative setup route, put the key inside the address you paste. Treat that link like a password and never share a screenshot of it.

4

Key-only servers don’t work in claude.ai

Ayrshare only accepts a fixed API key in a request header. A claude.ai connector can’t send one, so the tools appear and every call fails. Claude Code and other clients that send headers work.

5

Read the sign-in screen

Metricool’s sign-in asks for inbox, ads, review and Drive access, more than its seven Claude tools use. Upload-Post’s lets Claude send DMs and reply to comments for you. Grant what you’re comfortable with, and keep write tools on “Allow once”.

6

Hootsuite is four connectors

Publishing, inbox, listening and advocacy are separate servers, each added on its own, and the listening one needs Enterprise.

New to this? Our step-by-step guides show a real post going from prompt to queue in Claude and in ChatGPT. The protocol itself is documented at modelcontextprotocol.io.

Social media MCP servers: common questions

What is a social media MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants use to call tools in another app. A scheduler’s MCP server gives the assistant a fixed set of actions, such as listing your accounts or scheduling a post, using the accounts you already connected to that scheduler. The assistant never gets your social media passwords.

Which social media scheduler has a free MCP server?

Buffer and Metricool include their servers on their free plans, and both are in Claude’s directory. Upload-Post’s free tier works too, with 10 uploads a month. Postiz is free if you host it yourself. Everything else needs a paid plan, from $9 a month for PostEverywhere.

Does Later have an MCP server?

No. As of November 2026 Later has no official MCP server for Claude or ChatGPT. Pages that list one are pointing at unofficial third-party wrappers.

Can Claude post to my accounts without asking?

Only if you let it. In claude.ai each tool call can ask for approval, and “Allow once” keeps you in the loop for every post. Some schedulers add their own brake: PostFast holds posts until you approve them, and Kadenzo only schedules for a future time, so a post can still be cancelled in the calendar.

Can Claude or ChatGPT read my brand mentions and DMs through a scheduler?

Most scheduler servers can’t. In our test Buffer, Metricool and Upload-Post couldn’t say what people said about the brand that week. Hootsuite offers it on Enterprise through its Lumen server. Kadenzo’s server reads mentions and listening keywords on Professional (5 keywords) and checks comment-to-DM rules, with up to 3,000 DM contacts a month on that plan.

Do I need a paid Claude or ChatGPT plan?

Not for directory connectors in Claude. In ChatGPT, the plugin directory is open on every plan, though individual plugins vary by plan, workspace and region, and servers that aren’t listed need Developer mode. Check the scheduler’s own setup page for the client you use.

Give your assistant more than a post button

Kadenzo’s server schedules to 11 networks and reads your mentions, best times and DM rules, from $29 a month.
