Metricool Alternatives: When the Add-ons Add Up

Metricool is a good deal for one person running many brands: $25 a month covers five. It gets expensive at the edges. Each X account is a $10 add-on, a second person needs Advanced at $67, listening is sold by the day, and the free plan shrank to 20 posts a month in 2026.

We make Kadenzo, which includes X, comment-to-DM, listening and free approvers from $19 a month. We tested Metricool’s free plan against it on October 20, 2026, and priced every add-on from Metricool’s own billing page.

Price history

Metricool’s 2026, line by line

Four changes in ten months, read from archived copies of Metricool’s pricing page and its help center. Most comparison pages still quote the old numbers.

  1. December 2025 to January 2026

    The free plan shrank

From 50 to 20 published posts a month, and from 3 months of data to 30 days, with a watermark on the charts.

  2. February to March 2026

    Paid plans went up

Starter from $22 to $25 a month ($18 to $20 billed yearly); Advanced for 15 brands from $54 to $67.

  3. July 13, 2026

    The X add-on doubled

From $5 to $10 a month for each X account. Older subscribers keep $5 until they drop to zero add-ons.

  4. September 1, 2026

    Comment-to-DM arrived

Flows answers comments with a DM on Instagram and X, and can reply to or hide TikTok comments. From November 9, 2026 it’s a paid add-on on paid plans: $12 a month for 2,500 runs.

The plans in Metricool, monthly billing, taxes not included.
Starter $25, plus $10 for one X account and $12 for Advanced Analytics: $47 a month. Read in Metricool; nothing bought.

Our test

An Instagram growth kit, set up in both

On October 20, 2026 we connected the same Instagram account to Metricool’s free plan and worked through four jobs a growing account needs. Nothing was bought, saved or published.

1. See how the account has been doing

Metricool wins

Metricool

Paid plans keep unlimited history and can re-sync back to January of the year before. On Free you see 30 days with a watermark; reach, interactions and profile activity are locked, and follower counts start on the day you connect.

Free: 30 days, with a watermark on every chart.
Three of four account tabs locked on Free.

Kadenzo

Analytics for 7 days, 30 days, 3 months or a custom range on every plan, across all connected accounts.

Three months across every connected account.

2. Track what people say about your brand

Kadenzo wins

Metricool

No listening product. The Hashtag Tracker costs $25 per hashtag, per network, per day, on Instagram and X only, and it isn’t available for Instagram accounts connected without a Facebook Page.

Tracking is bought by the day.
Not for Instagram connected through Instagram login.

Kadenzo

Every plan tracks 2 to 15 keywords all month on Reddit, X, Bluesky, Threads, YouTube, Hacker News and the web, with email and Slack alerts.

A month of mentions for one keyword.

4. Send a link when someone comments

Kadenzo wins

Metricool

Flows does comment-to-DM on paid plans, as a $12-a-month add-on from November 9, 2026. Instagram needs a linked Facebook Page, replies are fixed text, and a post can have one automation at a time.

Kadenzo

Every plan, from $19, on Instagram and Facebook, with an opt-in button and the link after the tap. 500 people a month on Starter.

Keyword, posts to watch, and a preview of the DM.

The fine print

Flows and the Hashtag Tracker, rule by rule

Our free account couldn’t open either one properly, so these rules come from Metricool’s help center (Flows articles updated October 8, 2026; Hashtag Tracker June 16, 2026).

Flows: comment-to-DM

Launched September 1, 2026 on paid plans, free at first. From November 9, 2026 it’s a paid add-on on Starter and Advanced: $12 a month for 2,500 runs, then $0.01 each.

Instagram
A comment, a DM keyword or a story reply can start a flow. Comment-to-DM needs a Facebook Page linked to the account.
Instagram
Only feed posts and Reels trigger it. Comments on ads and on stories never do.
Instagram
The public reply rotates up to 3 variations of up to 300 characters. The first DM carries text and a button only, no link (Meta’s rule); the link goes in the follow-up DM.
TikTok
Flows can reply to or hide comments. DM-to-DM works in the US only, with at most 10 automated messages, and needs a Business account.
X
Auto DM, comment-to-DM and auto repost, all behind the X add-on.
Every network
One DM per comment, a delay of at most 24 hours per step, and a post can’t have two active automations. Replies are fixed text with no AI, and Flows isn’t in the mobile app.

Flows reports sends, interactions, click-through rate and an execution history.

Hashtag Tracker

$25per hashtag, per network, per 24 hours

  • Pay per use on any plan; buy 4 days and the fifth is free.
  • Instagram: one hashtag, counted from the moment the session starts, feed posts and Reels only, and only for Instagram connected through Facebook.
  • X: a hashtag, keyword or @account, looking 7 days back, behind the X add-on.
  • Each session stops at 25,000 X posts or 10,000 Instagram posts.
  • Nothing for the web, Reddit, news, YouTube or TikTok.

Kadenzo’s listening runs all month on every plan, with 2 to 15 keywords.

Leaving Metricool

How to leave Metricool cleanly

Cancelling is self-serve. Two details catch people out: deleting the account doesn’t stop billing, and renewals aren’t refunded.

  1. 1

    Export first

Download your calendar as a CSV from Planning and your last reports as PDF. Free accounts can’t export reports, so do it before the plan ends.

  2. 2

    Delete SmartLinks you don’t want

On Free, SmartLinks stay live but can’t be edited or removed without support.

  3. 3

    Cancel, don’t delete

Cancel in Plan and Billing. Deleting the account doesn’t cancel the subscription, and renewals are never refunded.

  4. 4

    Rebuild Flows in Kadenzo

Comment-to-DM rules don’t export. In Kadenzo a template asks for the keyword and the link, and it can watch all your posts.

Before you switch, look at comment-to-DM and social listening in Kadenzo, then set up your first rule with our guide to Instagram auto replies.

Metricool alternatives: common questions

Is Metricool free?

There’s a free plan for one brand with 20 published posts a month and 30 days of analytics. It can’t connect X or LinkedIn, and it has no reports or link-in-bio page. Until early 2026 the free plan allowed 50 posts and 3 months of data.

How much does Metricool cost with X?

Each X account is a $10 monthly add-on on top of a paid plan, so Starter with one X account is $35 a month. Kadenzo includes X on every plan from $19.

Can two people use Metricool Starter?

No. Starter has one user. Team members and approvals start on Advanced at $67 a month ($53 billed yearly), even for one brand. Kadenzo adds approvers free on Enterprise at $49.

Does Metricool have comment-to-DM?

Yes, since September 2026: Flows sends a DM when someone comments on Instagram or X (X needs the add-on); on TikTok it replies to or hides comments instead. From November 9, 2026 it’s a paid add-on on paid plans, $12 a month for 2,500 runs. On Instagram it needs a Facebook Page linked to the account.

Does Metricool have social listening?

Not as an ongoing feature. The Hashtag Tracker follows one hashtag on Instagram or X for $25 per network per day. Kadenzo tracks 2 to 15 keywords all month on every plan.

Is Metricool cheaper than Kadenzo?

For one person running many brands without X, often yes: $45 a month covers 10 brands. Once you add X accounts, a second person or listening, Kadenzo’s flat $19 to $49 usually costs less.

Can I get a refund from Metricool?

Only within 15 days of your first purchase, by asking support. Renewals are never refunded and yearly plans aren’t prorated.

X, DMs and listening without add-ons

Kadenzo schedules to 11 networks with comment-to-DM and brand listening on every plan, from $19 a month.
